Community Assistance Center CAC Volunteer Community Building Sunday, August 24, 10:00 am Come enjoy bagels, coffee, and community while learning more about the work of the Community Assistance Center (CAC). We’ll share what’s ahead for our High Holy Day Food Drive and Children’s Holiday Gift Drive, plus ways to get involved—whether for a day or on an ongoing basis.
CAC Food Pantries Share a few hours of your time in the CAC's food pantries. We have multiple opportunities each month to help. Assist two Mondays at the South Sandy Springs Food Pantry and volunteer at the main Food Pantry & Thrift Store every third Saturday.

Backpack Buddies Help feed some deserving students at Powers Ferry Elementary! Backpack Buddies packs and delivers bags of food for kids to bring home every Friday to ensure they have meals and snacks over the weekend.
Family Promise Host Week Sunday, October 5-Sunday, October 12 We provide temporary housing for families experiencing homelessness through Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb. There are many volunteer opportunities, including providing a meal, hosting overnight or during the day, helping with move-in or move-out, laundry, grocery shopping and more.Teens in grades 9-12 can sign up to play with the kids and help with homework.
Zaban Paradies Center Wednesday, September 17 and October 15, 5:00 pm The Zaban Paradies Center is located in Midtown and assists couples transitioning from homelessness to resettlement and independence by providing shelter, basic necessities and counseling services. The shelter houses approximately 20 couples year-round, which includes a hot meal every evening and a sack lunch every day. Volunteers are needed to provide the meal, along with 4 servers. Shomrei Adamah: Environmental Awareness Committee Meetings Wednesday, August 27, 6:00 pm Our committee meets virtually every month to discuss environmental initiatives at Sinai as well as in Georgia. Please join us!
Adamah ATL "Reverse" Tashlich Sunday, September 28, 2:00 pm This community-wide and multi-faith effort coincides with World Rivers Day, and the result is a beautiful simultaneous river clean up at six locations around the city. We have three of those locations where the Jewish community will have a more concentrated presence.
Atlanta Pride Parade Sunday, October 12, 11:00 am Join Sinai in Atlanta’s Pride Parade with SOJOURN, Atlanta’s Jewish LGBTQ+ advocacy group, as part of the largest Jewish Pride contingent outside Tel Aviv! A bus departs from Sinai at 11:00 am and returns at 4:30 pm. Make sure to register and let us know if you will be riding the bus.

High Holy Day Volunteer Day Wednesday, September 10, 10:00 am Volunteer opportunities include: polishing the Torah ornaments and ritual silver, preparing bags and organizing supplies for the food drive, providing office support and preparing the building for the Holy Days!
High Holy Day Shammashim We need over 200 Shammashim (Greeters) to help our High Holy Day services run smoothly and safely! Shammashim welcome congregants, check e-tickets, direct seating, assist with parking, and more. Volunteers may reserve two sanctuary seats for the service they serve!
Temple Sinai Justice Initiatives address the root cause(s) of inequality by advocating for policy change, feature sustained dialogue and engagement, and/or have implications beyond a single social action program. These are our current Justice Initiatives that were selected through our congregational process for adopting justice initiatives emphasizing transparency, lay oversight, and community learning.
Building Community Thru Conversation(BCTC) fosters meaningful interfaith dialogue in response to rising antisemitism and misinformation.
SHIELD (Supporting Honest Instruction & Equitable Learning for Our Diaspora) works to ensure accurate and inclusive representation of Jewish history and culture in school curricula. As students head back to school, SHIELD is here to help families address antisemitism and anti-Israel bias in classrooms, assignments, or curricula. Our Georgia Standards Watch List highlights grade-level “Jewish-related” topics, so parents know when to pay closer attention—especially in 7th grade, where early lessons focus on the Middle East, Israel’s founding, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Sacred Choices: A Jewish Call for Reproductive Justice Tuesday, August 26, 7:30 pm Red Tent Fund and Temple Sinai are co-sponsoring this special event that features a panel of trailblazing women advocating for reproductive rights. Moderated by Samara Minkin of the Spring, panelists include Georgia State Representative Esther Panitch, Rabbi Lydia Medwin, Dr. Mimi Zieman, Alli Tombros Korman, and others in what promises to be a powerful and inspiring evening. Adamah ATL – Jews and Food: The Ethics, the Health, and the Impact Thursday, September 4, 7:00 pm, The Dupree Explore how Jewish values inform our relationship with food, health, and the land. Rabbi Jonathan Crane, Registered Dietitian Julie Taube, and “Farmer D” Daron Joffe —each rooted in Jewish tradition—will share how their work reflects ancient wisdom and modern responsibility. Moderated by Adamah CEO Jakir Manela, the conversation will highlight the ethical, spiritual, and environmental dimensions of growing, harvesting, and consuming food.
