We’re proud to introduce two new justice initiatives at Temple Sinai that reflect our commitment to equity, education, and community-building. SHIELD(Supporting Honest Instruction & Equitable Learning for Our Diaspora) works to ensure accurate representation of Jewish history and culture in schools, whileBuilding Community Thru Conversationfosters meaningful interfaith dialogue in response to rising antisemitism and misinformation. We’re excited to support these efforts as they evolve and deepen our collective impact.
And as we move into summer, we encourage you to see below for all of the ways you can get involved, take action and help strengthen our community.
Social Action Programs
Habitat for Humanity Build Sunday, June 22 and July 13, 12:00 pm-4:00 pm We are so excited to once again partner with other Atlanta faith communities—including Temple Kol Emeth and Ahavath Achim Synagogue—for this Multi-faith Habitat for Humanity Build. Temple Sinai will be participating on two days and we need about 8 volunteers each day.
The first build day will include the opening “barn raising." Both builds will take place in the Marietta/Austell area.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old with parental permission. Those who are 17 and older may participate without parental consent. We’d love to see families join us!
There is a $25 donation associated with volunteering, which helps offset the cost of the build. Even if you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to make a donation in support of the project!
Family Promise – Volunteer Opportunities at Homebound Ranch While we won’t be hosting families onsite this summer, there's a unique opportunity to support Family Promise through Homebound Ranch, a transitional home being used for five weeks to house families and avoid costly hotel stays—saving nearly $20,000.
Volunteers are needed for meals, supplies, move-in/move-out help, and more. Meal drop-offs are simple (between 6:00 pm–6:30 pm), and you'll receive family details in advance. Full info is in the sign up links below—thank you for being part of this vital effort!
CAC Food Pantries Share a few hours of your time in the CAC's food pantries. We have multiple opportunities each month to help. Assist two Mondays at the South Sandy Springs Food Pantry and volunteer at the main Food Pantry & Thrift Store every third Saturday.

Backpack Buddies Temple Sinai is wrapping up another school year of bag packing with our community partner Backpack Buddies. We are so grateful to Nikki Goldstein, Pam Miller, and Rick Shapiro for their work on this program! They will be taking a break for the summer but stay tuned for new dates to participate starting in August.
Shabbat Service Celebrating Pride Friday, June 27, 6:30 pm Join us for a meaningful Pride Shabbat that centers and uplifts the trans community.
